Process

1. Initial Contact with Hamill Creek Timberwrights

Primary Contact: Sales Manager


What the client does:

•  Fills out requests for information on our website or give us a call.
•  Discusses with us the scope and look of the home that you want to build.


What Hamill Creek does:

•  Provides information to you regarding different timber frame options
•  Send of a custom information package to help your make an educated decision
•  Arranges a visit to our timber frame shop in Meadow Creek British Columbia and home     tours in you local area
•  Discusses design contract


2. Design Process

Primary Contact: Sales Manager


The design process can be broken down into three different activities. The preliminary schematic design, secondary architectural and timber frame design, construction documentation. During this stage of the process you will have a lot of contact back and forth with the designer. They will prepare schematic drawings of your home and constant revisions will be made until you are completely happy with the design. The goal here is that will get down on paper the vision of your home that you have in your mind.

What the client does:

•  Returns signed design contract
•  Complete design questionnaire with help from a Hamill Creek designer during design    meeting
•  Submit site plan
•  Review schematic design and interact with designer

What Hamill Creek does:

Preliminary Schematic Design & Estimate               

•  space requirements study
•  basic schematic drawings (floor plans & elevations)
•  preliminary cost estimate

Secondary Architectural and Timber Frame design 

•  floor plans 
•  elevations
•  foundation plan
•  timber study
•  enclosure quote(walls & roof) if required
•  final timber frame price quote
•  At this point, when the client has approved the design and price quote, a timber frame    contract is signed and returned.

Completion of Construction and Shop Drawings                  

•  Construction drawings ready for building permit including:
•  final floor plans and detail
•  window & door schedule (if required)
•  plotting and blueprinting
•  engineering

. Custom Wood Products Package

Primary Contact: Sales Manager and Designer


At this point the design stage is close to being finished. Your designer will have discussed with you the look of the inside and outside of your home and the two of you will determine what custom wood products you will need. This can include custom stairs, doors, siding, trim packages, tong and grove deck, and flooring.

What Hamill Creek does:

•  We will provide you with competitive quotes on the wood products you require
•  We will provide you with custom design on such items as stairs and doors
•  Have them deliver to site at the appropriate time
•  Install the products, if required

What the client does:

•  Return accepted quotes signed

Timber Frame Raising

Primary Contact: Designer and Timber Frame Raising Supervisor

The big day has come and your frame is on site and the crew is there to put it up.

What the client does:

•  Ensures that their General Contractor has the foundation and sub-floor in
•  Arranges the crane operator and crane (if not using crane supplied by Hamill Creek)
•  Gets ready for the raising party on the last day

What Hamill Creek Does:

•  Organizes crews travel and accommodation
•  Insures that all aspects of the frame go up correctly
•  Assists your General Contractor to ensure the rest of the construction goes smoothly
