In Detail

Building you dream home is a process in which some main stages can be defined. The first step is for you to share your dream with us. By filling out our design questionnaire and submitting it along with any pictures of houses, rooms or details you have collected from magazines. Don’t forget to include any rough floorplans you may have sketched or ideas you may have.  All these will help facilitate the design process.

One of Hamill Creek Timberwrights experienced designers will work closely with you to turn your dream into a reality. Once the preliminary design is approved by you, all the drawing details and construction drawings are completed and engineering approval is given.

The timbers for your new home are cut at our own sawmill from logs harvested locally.  These timbers are then moved into our workshop to be crafted and finished by our Timberwrights.  Each timber piece is carefully test fitted to ensure perfect fit at raising time.

We carefully package all the timber frame pieces and arrange for shipping to your building site.

At your building site your sub contractor has ready your foundation and sub floor.

Raising day has arrived! This is probably the most dramatic day in the building of your new timber frame home. A crane is employed to unload and lift the timbers into place. The timber framers join each piece with oak pegs. As the last timber is placed ant the last wooden peg driven home, it is time for the dedication ceremony. It is a time honored tradition amongst timber framers to cut a tree bough, climb to the top of the frame and attach the bough to the ridgepole, giving thanks to the trees, that the frame was cut from and thanks for a safe and happy raising.. .
